The movement of goods from one point to another is referred to as transportation in the context of commerce. Transportation management is the management of the transportation process from the producers to the middlemen and then to consumers. The primary goal is to transport goods efficiently and effectively. As you all know, GDEX company is one of the carrier companies that has been known by Malaysians. After do interview sessions with one of the manager branches of GDEX company, she states that the responsibility for the goods that being transported by GDEX company is on the origin branch who shipped the goods to the customers. She added that, for domestic and international delivery is the same. For example, GDEX company at Jerantut, Pahang shipped goods to China, and the goods is defect or lost anywhere else. GDEX company at Jerantut, Pahang is responsibility for the problems because they are the origin branches who shipped the goods at the first place. The origin branches should make sure that the goods are safely arrived to the customers from the first step until the last step of the movement of the goods that being transported.

 

For international transportation, GDEX company will use third party company to deliver their goods to the customer. Usually, GDEX will use DHL service to transport the goods to the customer around the globe. DHL company will take the goods from GDEX company after a several procedures about the goods that will be transported. If all of the procedures are passed, then the DHL company will take the responsibility for the goods. But GDEX company will get an update and information about the goods from DHL company. For example, DHL company will update to GDEX company international department about the consignment notes and others. it means that GDEX company will make sure the goods are safely delivered to the customers in good condition. For your information, the information provided by DHL company to GDEX company is allowed to share to the customers. Usually, GDEX company will give information about the goods to the customer by using emails.

 

She added that, GDEX use systems that created by their company to get the information about the goods that will be shipped by them. In those systems, GDEX can know either the goods can be ship or not. If the goods can be transport by them, they will request documents that involve for the transportation of goods process. For example, they will request for material safety data sheet (MSDS), ingredients, type of shipments and other documents that needed for the transportation process. All of the documentation needs to be done before GDEX accept the shipment to proceed with the transportation.
